About Amanda and Her Team
I began dancing at 3 years of age and performed across the United Kingdom from the age of 5 as a junior performer, and later as a professional. At 17 I passed my first teaching examination with the ‘National Association of Teachers of Dancing’ in Ballet with Distinction. In the following year, I achieved Distinction in Modern Stage dancing. At 19, I completed my Associate teaching qualifications gaining Distinction in National Tap dancing. I achieved my childhood ambition, establishing ‘The Grove School of Dance’ in January 1988 at Hazel Grove Civic Hall where we are located today.
To add to my teaching qualifications I entered Manchester Metropolitan University as a Mature Student in 1994 and graduated as a Primary School Teacher in 1998 with a Bachelor of Education Honours Degree 2:1, specialising in Drama.
In the year 2000 I furthered my dancing teaching qualifications and gained my Membership qualification. As well as choreographing for the school, I also choreograph Musical Shows. I won Best Choreographer in 2006 for the show, “42nd Street” performed in Manchester by the East Cheshires Musical Theatre Company.
Since establishing the school, pupils have attained excellent examination results. I have staged many innovative and successful school shows at the Peter Barkworth Theatre, Stockport and other professional venues both here and abroad.
In a constant strive to give children new stage experiences school pupils have entered many dancing festivals. These experiences are invaluable, not for the accolades they might bring, but for development of confidence and character.
In addition, the school has been involved in casting for television and online work and pupils have performed in promotional films, advertisements & commercials.
Louise and I went to London and gained our Contemporary qualifications and our Contemporary examination results have been magnificent and the performance work has brought a tear to the eyes.
